May 2018 Newsletter

It’s that time of the year again! We are hosting teams for 11 weeks this summer.  We expect to have a productive summer working on the farm, ministering to the least of these and doing VBS’s in local churches.  Keep an eye out on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. We try to post at least 3 to 4 pictures a day of what we are up to, so make sure you go follow us! There are already some really cool stories of how God is working in and through the different ministries.

We spent the last few weeks gathering data from the families who received water filters last year. We were blown away at how effective the results were. In total, we handed out over 900 filters last year, which provided clean water to 4,820 people. 99% of them use the filter on a regular basis and have said they see an improvement in their health. We only heard of 4 people who aren’t using the filter. Rick was expecting maybe half the people wouldn’t use them, but only 4?! Wow! Praise the Lord!

Last Friday, June 8, we received horrible news from the youth rehab center that we partner with. The home they were given by the government was once a well-known drug lord’s house. The drug lord was let out of prison and wanted his house back, so he paid the police to come in and forcibly remove the boys and the director. The police beat the boys and threw tear gas at them. They took everything inside of the house and threw it into the streets. One of the boys was beaten so bad that he had three broken ribs and a broken arm. As a result, the boys have been temporarily staying at a men’s rehab not too far from where they were. They lost everything, they have no clothes, no food, no beds, all of the school work that they have done was thrown into the street and could not be recovered. However, this has been a great opportunity for us to encourage and love on the director and the boys in the program. The rehab center is not faith based, but we have the opportunity to share the love of Christ with them. This week we have a group from Aliquippa, PA who took up a love offering and Mission TwentyFive 35 matched the offering to bless the youth rehab center with whatever their greatest needs are. We are planning on purchasing new beds, plates, cups, towels, and chairs. Please continue to pray for us as we walk alongside of this ministry.

This week and last week we have been blessed to have teams from West Newton, PA, and Aliquippa, PA here serving alongside of us. We partner with many different ministries that are so grateful for the message of hope and encouragement that we bring.  Also, Grace Spencer came to take pictures so that we can tell our story of how God is using Mission TwentyFive 35 through pictures. Here are some ways you can be praying for us:

  • Stamina for our staff and interns to make it through the summer.
  • That Mission TwentyFive 35 would be used by God to meet needs of those who are neglected or cast aside.
  • Pray for safety and health over short-term teams and over our team here on the ground.
  • Pray that we will be able to finish the projects we are working on this summer at the farm.
